David & Edward: Adventure & Wanderlust

To think how some of us agonize over what our dating profile says, but for Edward, all it took to swipe right was reading “Boat Life” on David’s profile. And so a conversation between the two was set in motion.

After a couple of days of banter, the two decided to meet for iced coffee at Starbucks. Coffee led to a walk around Madison, WI’s Capitol Square—Edward’s new hometown—and on to dinner. David’s first impressions of Edward were that he was “fit, intelligent and so attractive.” Edward of David said: “he was intriguing, ambitious and social!” But, it wasn’t until they first worked out together that they were reallydestined for each other. “Neither of us was offended by anything in the smell department! Our chemistry just worked.”

Hanging out led to weekends away together which led to their intended engagement weekend in the Smokey Mountain National Park in 2020. As you can imagine, this was scuttled thanks to, well… you know. “We had our rings we’d had made by a Cleveland jeweler ready, but had to cancel and simply waited to reschedule.” But, as the reschedule kept getting delayed, Edward popped the question at home, after dinner, as David was doing the dishes! They celebrated the news with their “plant babies” and along with them announced their engagement to friends and family. They eventually hosted a proper engagement shoot at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

The two set out to plan their fall wedding in Cleveland. Edward is a designer and had a strong vision for the wedding, but David was fully involved, which for the two included making their own stationery from Save the Date cards to reception menus.

Their big day was held at Glidden House, a mansion-turned-boutique hotel. The couple selected it for the feeling of home it provided them and their guests. Glidden House and the golden colors of fall provided an ideal background for their ceremony which the two wrote along with their vows. After being walked down the aisle by their mothers, they turned to their vows which “focused on how we build each other up and enjoy each and every day to the fullest,” the two shared. “We did insert humor to help ease the tears and make our guests laugh. It was beyond amazing to celebrate and honor our marriage in front of our closest friends and family!”

While Covid limited the guest count to under 100, guests gathered from 17 states and South Korea. But Covid freed people on the dancefloor! “It was lit,” Edward said, thanks to the heavy Latin beats and popular hits. He continued by saying that “dancing the entire night away with my mother, brother, sister, niece, aunts, and cousins” was one of his favorite moments of the wedding. For David, it was seeing their families and families come together.

What Covid didn’t interfere with was the couples mini-moon and honeymoon. Following the wedding the two made their way to Disney in Orlando. And shortly thereafter the two made their way to Paris and London. Both escapes were magical in all the ways places like Disney and Paris are meant to be magical. “We are adventure seekers and wanderlust in always finding fun things to do outside our daily work,” the two explained.

Their next adventure: a family of their own!
